Communication Arts Design Annual publishes the best in visual communications from around the world. A global competition, approx. 7,000 submissions with only 140 projects awarded. Our stunning wine label series for Ca’ di Pesa, was featured in the 2013 CA Design Annual. This honor could be equated to the “Oscars” of Design.
Ca’ di Pesa is dramatically positioned in the famed Conca d’Oro of Tuscany’s Chianti, minutes from Panzano, Italy. When Jonathan and Jessika Auerbach, owners of the villa and accompanying vineyard, approached us to brand Ca’ di Pesa, it was clear the aesthetic would be guided by the region’s beautiful landscape. The Riserva highlights the villa’s iconic four-pane window at night, in a salute to the four Auerbach daughters. Created with custom diecuts, as well as various foils, the labels capture the dramatic beauty and changing light of Ca’ di Pesa. We are thrilled to share these award winning labels.

We’re thrilled to share this storytelling website with you. Pay it a visit here and be sure to give the home page images the rollover that they deserve.
GINA B. is an emerging fine jewelry brand launched by Newport Beach designer Gina Hueston –konnectDesign was engaged to bring the brand to life.
We created this branding a few years back for the ink cartridge refill company, 123 Refills. As fresh as it continues to be, we thought that it should be shared with the world once again.
Esme Oliver hates her job and just broke up with her “perfect on paper” boyfriend on the eve of her 40th birthday. Fed up, she decides to go to Italy. Instead of Eat, Pray, Love, Esme wants to Smoke, Drink, F*k. When she meets a young Italian chef he inspires her to do that and much more. “If you resolve to give up smoking, drinking and loving, you don’t actually live longer: it just seems longer.” — Clement Freud
Known as the “First Lady of Nails,” Jessica Vartoughian has held a position of respect and even star quality in Europe for more than 30 years. When approached by JESSICA Cosmetics for their Global Rebranding, we decided that the company needed to be brought back full circle to its European roots. The campaign, Artfully Polished Living was born: an illustrative, timeless, euro-chic approach, featuring watercolor paintings by Parisian artist Aurore de La Morinerie. Bringing the campaign to life, we created show-stopping, environmental graphics for JESSICA’s 2012 Cosmoprof Trade Show Exhibit in Las Vegas… next stop Bologna, Italy.
We were asked to brand a new loft space located in the Los Angeles Downtown Arts District; everything from naming and logo development, through sales brochures, signage and web design. How could we say no — it’s the classic Spreckels Sugar Warehouse! The brand — inspired by vintage railroad signage — exudes a modern elegance with a touch of the past. konnectDesign is giving an old landmark a new place within the energetic landscape of the Arts District.
Lena Kwak of Cup 4 Cup hired konnectDesign to further brand her Gluten-free flour, with a consumer-based website. Under the mentorship of Chef Thomas Keller, Chef/Owner of The French Laundry, Lena refined the proprietary blend of gluten-free flour, and they set about making it available to a larger audience. Since Cup4Cup’s release in 2011, Lena was honored in 2012 as one of Forbes “30 Under 30” innovators, a Zagat “30 Under 30” honoree and a Martha Stewart “American Made” Award recipient.
She’s from East LA. He’s a gringo from the South Bay. When their worlds united it was truly meant to be, which made for an appropriate theme surrounding this couple’s big day. Her Latin roots inspired the use of Loteria (Spanish Bingo) cards, as well as cedar boxes that we had custom made and shipped from the Dominican Republic. Housing letterpress invitations, along with vintage postage stamps on the reply cards, the custom boxes were also a nod to the cigar roller who would be greeting the guests at the wedding reception… all details from a bygone era. Since the couple was to be wed at the historic Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, it seemed more than fitting to title the piece, Union at the Union.
We are honored and pleased to announce that the label and packaging design for Jason | Stephens, the Santa Clara Valley vintner, has just received its second nod as an award winning label! And the nods don’t stop there, with our ever growing collection of award winners below…
We were recently approached by Annica Howard, wife of composer, James Newton Howard, to create an invitation for his 60th birthday bash at the legendary Soho House. Combining the Edwardian aesthetic with a modern Hollywood sensibility, the piece sets out to change attendee’s minds about how conservative this Oscar nominated composer really is. Each invitation was screen printed on aged newsprint along with gold foil stamping, which turned out to be…well, golden!
Named after his late wife’s childhood imaginary friends, the Onny and Oboe Scholarship Fund was started by Mikey Tittinger to help families directly affected by a heart transplant pursue post-secondary education. We were asked to shape a blog destination for this awesome cause, which he will use to accept donations and document his 3,000 mile journey across America. Why walk? It’s basic. It’s human. Because crossing the country at 3 miles per hour pales next to a heart patient’s epic road to recovery. “I walk because I can.” Support a great cause here.
We were honored to directly collaborate with Don Cheadle in creating his film production company’s new identity — introducing Crescendo Productions!

Every summer, Honda Civic teams up with a well-known rock band to put on a cross-country tour of epic proportions. This year’s band was Paramore and we had the incredible opportunity to work directly with them – designing everything from the logo and promotional posters to skinning a one-of-a-kind Honda Civic SI Coupe and matching scooter. The end result was a concept that fit the personality of the Honda Civic Tour yet also captured the band’s quirkier, edgier style. Not an easy task, but definitely a fun one.
Augeo, a mergers + acquisitions firm, approached us with a need for brand positioning / strategy, as well as a fresh identity to stand apart in their competitive market. Much more Augeo work to come soon!
We just wrapped a branding project for luxury cashmere importer Canyon View Cashmere which included a website, logo, and photo shoot art direction and styling.
We’re excited to announce our extensive re-branding of Paramount Pictures’ Human Resources department including an employee handbook, orientation materials and a company-wide intranet site. Here’s a sample of the work — please visit our website if you’d like to see more:
An oldie (but a goodie,) this web marketing motion graphic, was used to promote a memorial concert.
